NOTE as of November 2020: Our new rebuilt exchange program eliminates the high failure rate gears causing the core deductions to go up. We now include new JHM 2nd, 3rd and 4th standard in all our core exchange rebuilds. From Audi the cost is $1,600 plus and Audi has actually discontinued the 4th gear. Our new gears are built to the same high quality standards as ourproven JHM 1-2 shift collar that has been on the market since 2014. With these included new gears most people will get most if not all of the transmission core back. Bad or pitted Main shafts or transmisisons that are completely destroyed inside would be the main reasons for NO core refund or even a partial refund. Expect deductions from $400 to $500 for bad 1st, 5th and 6th gears which are rare and expect a similar deduction for bad 3-4 shift collars. Bad 3-4 shift collars would be the most common deduction due to that being the most abused from those annoying missed 2-3 shifts.

This is NOT a refurbished transmission with less than OEM quality parts installed. If you're going to increase the horsepower of your car (doubling it in most Stage 3 build cases) and then spin the motor past the OEM RPM limit, why would you run a transmission in your car with ground down, less than OEM-quality parts? Unlike other rebuilt transmissions on the market, this JHM rebuild transmission is completely rebuilt, featuring JHM Performance parts that perform better than the OEM parts. We make performance products for performance cars that have been modified beyond the factory specifications. Why buy re-coated and worn out parts that will only work on a stock-ish K03 car? You're spending money on your motor build, your turbos, and your other parts, why wouldn't you spend the money on your transmission? Our transmissions are performance proven and built and tested for performance cars. Why would you run anything less?

- JHM Updated 1-2 Shift Collar (Outer collar only; the inner collar never fails. If yours is locked up, just press it apart and install it in the JHM Updated Collar.) The outer collar is the part that causes 1st and/or 2nd gear to lock up when it fails.

JHM 4:1 Center Differential Upgrade: Select 'yes' if you want your JHM Rebuilt Transmission to have our JHM 4:1 Center Differential Upgrade pre-installed. This modification increases the amount of torque that the Torsen differential in your transmission can send to the rear wheels of your car. From the factory, the bias in the differential allows up to two times the amount of the torque to be sent to the rear wheels as the front wheels. With the JHM Center Differential Upgrade, we increase the amount of torque that can be sent to the rear wheels to up to four times the amount. This upgrade gets your car to behave a little more like a rear wheel drive car while still maintaining the superior control of quattro all wheel drive.

Information About Freight, Labor, and Core Charges:
Please select "No Shipping, Local Pickup" as your shipping option when you place your order. Once your rebuilt JHM Transmission purchase is received, we will contact you to verify the shipping address and the freight options you would like. We will contact you to collect the freight charges for shipping your transmission to you based on your location and needs. Additionally, we can work with you to arrange return shipping of your old transmission core. Shipping costs will vary based on your location and needs but should fall within $150 to $300 each way for customers in the Continental United States. Please call or email us for shipping quotes to international addresses.
Core Charge: If you are purchasing a pre-built core, select the core option as yes. The core charge for the JHM Rebuilt 01E EDU Transmission is priced in the options above. We install our FULL 01E Rebuild Kit in this Rebuilt Transmission core as well as JHM exclusive NEW 2nd, 3rd and 4th gears. Once we receive the old transmission core from your vehicle, we will disassemble it and inspect it to determine how much of the core charge you will be refunded. Since we replace everything listed above, the core charge assumes an already damaged 2nd gear, 3rd gear, 4th gear 1-2 Collar, and replacement of all other items contained in our Rebuild Kit (Synchros, Seals, Detents, etc...)
Core Credit and Deductions: When you send your transmission in to be rebuilt or have us send you one in advance and then return your core for a core credit refund be aware of the following.
- If your transmission crunches on shifts (1-2 shifts are fine since we already replace these parts standard in our rebuild) and depending on how long it was neglected for it is likely the transmission will need a new gear and/or shift collar for that gear. The retail price of these parts will be deducted from your core or will need to be added to your order if you sent yours in. Since we replace the 2nd, 3rd and 4th gear standard with new JHM units the most likely culprits would be the 3-4 shift collar and or 1st gear. Obviously we need to dissassemble your transmission first but this is just what we normally see.
- If your transmission makes noise or growls when going down the road (not when shifting) there could be a major bearing or mainshaft failure that could render your core totally junk and there would be no refund for your core or you would need to purchase one.
- If your transmission has physical case damage or cracks the cost of replacing a case is usually the amount of the core charge due to all the reshimming of bearings, shafts and the acquisition of a new case.
- If your transmission shifts without crunching and just doesn't feel as quick shifting as it did in most cases the core is totally credited.
- There are other things that can be wrong with your core so this is a case by case basis and we only charge what it costs to fix if it is repairable. But more than 50% of the time there are deductions or parts needed to get the transmission up to our high standards to sell to the next customer.
**Note for Customers Sending Their Transmission to JHM for Rebuild:** When we receive your transmission, we will perform a full inspection of the transmission (gears, collars, mainshaft, case, bearings, etc...), inform you of the findings and then work with you to get you the new or used gears/hard parts that you need or want for your specific build, desires, power levels, driving style, etc...
Early vs. Late Selector Shaft Cap for Cross Rod: Our transmission will ship with the EARLY style Selector Shaft Cap. You will need to make sure that your cross rod matches the selector shaft cap that you end up putting on the transmission before installation.
Reverse Switch and Speed Sensor: We leave the reverse light switch and speed sensor installed in the transmission.
**SHIPPING NOTE:** ALL JHM FULLY REBUILT Transmission are shipped EMPTY, i.e. WITHOUT gear oil. Don't forget to add 4x Quarts of our either our Red Line or Motul Manual Transmission Gear Oil to your order so you can fill your newly rebuilt transmission for installation.
JHM Rebuilt Transmissions usually ship out from our location 1 to 3 days after the transmission is received, depending on our current stock of replacement hard parts (if needed).
