- I've done routine maintenance on pretty much every car I've owned from my first Toyota Celica to a full sized GMC Sierra. I consider myself a hobby grease monkey, but when faced with the prospect of doing the timing belt on my '01 S4 I was hesitant to say the least. I found plenty of online sources from Audi forums and the like, but nothing gave me the confidence to do the job like the DVD that JHM put together. I had it in the laptop and watched it over and over, especially at points where I felt I really needed to pay the closest of attention. Overall, GREAT JOB JHM!!!!! I keep coming back to purchase parts from you because of the great work you do, keep it up! (Posted on 5/6/2011)

My 2.8 V6 developed that typical smell of burnt oil, sometimes I could even see smoke coming out from right side of the hood. Also, I didn't know when the timing belt was done last time (bought the car used).
So I wanted to do the timing belt and the cam seals.
This video does not cover taking away the lock carrier, but that's a relatively straightforward process. After that, the video covers everything about the belts. He nicely explains the process itself, but also what problems can occur and how you would deal with them. Cam seals are not covered, too, but all hints are given about what you have to do on the side of the belts to set you up for a job on the seals. I got some infos about the cams from another place.
In summary, this video gave me the confidence to do the timing job on my Audi. I am not a mechanic but knew that I had enough technical skills to do the job. The video gave me all the necessary hints.
I definitely recommend buying it. It is worth every cent.
Another recommendation: also get the Rental for the cam lock bar and crank lock pin. You may be able to mark all pulleys, so you can get the things back into the same place like they were. But I my case, with the help of the lock bar and the lock pin, I found out that the belt was actually one tooth off. This is something that you can only discover by properly locking cams and crank. (Posted on 1/9/2011) - Tired of reading and looking a few pictures? Tired of browsing through the online forums trying to figure out what to do? This DVD is the answer. It was a HUGE help in my timing belt replacement. I probably watched the video, including cam locking bar supplement, three times before the actual install. It was nice to be able SEE what needed to be done and helpful hints along the way. The only thing that was really missing, not the fault of the DVD, was how to take off the front bumper. What I pulled from the internet didn't match my car and I had to revert to searching the shop manual. Again, not the DVD's fault. Great product! (Posted on 2/12/2009)
