JH Motorsports, Inc. (JHM) is a growing company located in Lathrop, CA that designs, manufactures, and sells performance and OEM replacement parts for Audis and Volkswagens. We sell online and over-the-phone retail but are also a full service, performance and repair shop. For Audis and Volkswagens, we perform everything from regularly scheduled maintenance to transmission rebuilds to supercharger kit installations. Additionally, about 70% of our service work is performed on S model and RS model Audis with some A models and VW mixed in. We are not your average service shop!

We have had employees relocate from as close as Nevada and as far away as Pennsylvania! If this is something you are interested in, we have a two week employment trial available. This allows you to see if relocating to our area may work for you and helps you get a feel for your new career without any large commitments. Welder Fabricator Assistant

The JHM Welder / Fabricator Assistant is responsible for assisting in but not limited to Stainless Steel Exhaust components, Supercharger and Turbocharger parts and components, Basic Mechanical assembly/ disassembly, Inventory parts modification support with provided documentation and jigs. The Fabricator is a key player to work with all staff as a team member to fabricate, weld, fit, support and repair products to high standards for sale to the market. They are also expected to be proficient with the instructions delivered electronically. 

Tasks

  • Extensive experience with metal working equipment, angle grinders, speed cut blades, hand drills, drill press, belt sanders, chop saw, band saw, straight drive air grinders, tube/pipe bending press, and manual engine lathe and mills. Proper use, safety, and maintenance on a daily basis.
  • Performs machine set-up from DC to AC on TiG welder as needed per application and base metals.
  • Jig and fit up for production: Determine if the part needing jigging is for one time use or long term productions. Long term production jigs need to have fit up and tack welding in mind when designing the production jig. Repurpose of scrap or remnants is encouraged first before making a list of materials to be purchased locally or from our vendors. Ensure that the jig has been stiffened and supported accordingly, as welding pulls and shrinks.
  • Fab fit up welding for production: Performs all fabrication, fit up and welding of all sub parts to be fitted into all approved in-house production part jigs. Properly fit with the use of metal working shop equipment. Performs welding and cooling techniques to ensure all production parts are good and proper to be shelved for stock or for sale. Works closely with Shipping and Inventory to ensure there are adequate finished parts for back stock depending on sale or session. Works closely with Technicians for specific on site welding, fabrication and repair needs.
  • QC and fitment: Quality Control and part finish is determined by how good the welding finish is and jig fitment.
  • Use of metric and SAE hand tools on a daily basis. On-going part fitment, use, and testing may accrue. 

Qualification and Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Math: Basic math is needed due to the technological needs of many fabrication plants.
  • Must be thoroughly familiar with welding equipment such as torches, torch tips, filler rods, flux, hoses, valves, and gas cylinders.
  • Familiar with a variety of welder concepts, practices, and procedures.
  • Knowledge of all base materials and the correct filler rods for that base material.
  • Mechanical/Technical Skills: Must be able to read and understand blueprints, manuals, and work with computers and machines.
  • Knowledge of correct shielding gases per base material. This also includes operations of a MIG welder also.
  • Knowledge and performance of a point and shoot digital camera. 

Working Conditions

  • Dexterity: Working with their hands, whether directly manipulating components or using controls on an assembly machine.
  • Strength: Requires strength to lift heavy objects during the fabrication/assembly process.
  • Stamina: Standing for long periods of time often doing repetitive motions.
  • Loud noises and bright lights from objects being welded.
  • Occasionally exposed to work near moving mechanical parts. 

 Line of Communication

The Fabricator/Welder reports to the Lead Welder/Fabricator, Shop Foreman and General Manager.

As a Customer Liason at JHM, you are the go between the customer and the service shop / parts store. You will get involved with everything…including sales/customer service/technical support, test driving vehicles, educating and keeping customers up to date and tracking repair status. Your job is to make sure you listen to customers, communicate their needs to the right people, and upmost make sure their needs are fully taken care of. You will prepare sales orders, work orders, estimates as well as keeping detailed records and helping to schedule and distribute work to staff. You are truly the “Liason”. JHM’s reputation is being an industry expert on Audi/Volkswagen service…and you will need to uphold that image.

Automotive Technician

JH Motorsports inc.(JHM) is a team oriented company that succeeds through sharing knowledge and working across departments. Everyone helps each other -- down to the salesman and technicians. We are a full service maintenance shop with an extensive range of repair work. 

We are looking for a technician who can grow with us as we expand our Service Department. All service work is performed from our 4410 sqft 6 bay, 5 lift shop. We are currently seeking an Automotive Technician to become an integral part of our team! You will diagnose, modify, adjust, repair, and overhaul automotive vehicles.

Responsibilities:

  • Diagnose and repair Customer and JHM vehicles.
  • Perform routine vehicle tune-ups and maintenance.
  • Provide labor and time estimates to Service Advisor.
  • Diagnose vehicles using Vagcom and other Diagnostic software and tools.
  • Performance, aftermarket and racing modifications and repairs.
  • Working within and updating our computer/online based invoice system.
  • Ability to research and add to our internal forum knowledgebase.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 5 or more years' experience as an Automotive Technician
  • Knowledge of diagnostic and repair equipment
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
  • Knowledge of Audi/VW/Porsche cars and parts
  • Any other European manufacturer experience will also be favorable
  • Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Certifications. 
  • Audi and/or Volkswagen training certificates are a plus (in some cases substituted)
  • Ability to operate equipment and tools involved in automotive repair
  • Ability to lift heavy equipment and vehicle parts
  • Dynamic variety of personal tools and tool container

Shop and Shipping Associate

We are looking for a highly motivated, dedicated, and hard-working individual to help out our Service Department and our Parts and Shipping Department. This is an entry level position with a large potential for growth. You will have a wide range of responsibilities and learning opportunities.

As an Associate in the Parts and Shipping Department, your responsibilities will include (but are not limited to) boxing up shipments for retail orders, preparing orders for shipment, assisting in receiving and checking-in parts from stock orders, and general cleaning and organizing of the Parts and Shipping Department.

As an Associate in the Service Department, your responsibilities will include maintaining the shop to help our technicians perform their work as efficiently as possible. This will include (but is not limited to) cleaning the two service bay/lift areas, emptying the garbage, mopping up, disposing waste (oil, coolant, etc…), and general maintenance of the shop.
